Phantasy Star Portable is considered the second big PSP game in Japan now, selling 217,000 copies in Day 1. Those copies reportedly made 90% of the initial shipment and Stores has reported they have run of of copies. In response, SEGA has increased its shipment to 400,000 copies. Phantasy Star Portable beat Soul Calibur which was the “supposed” big release of the day. Soul Calibur sold 91,000 copies on Day 1 combining PS3 and Xbox 360 copies.

Sony’s PSP Hardware sales are also number 1 again this week, selling 67,452 PSPs, which is down from last week’s 74,024 PSPs sold.
