After several months of wondering and no confirmation that Shaun White’s Snowboarding would release for the PSP along with the other consoles, it’s now confirmed it will release for the PSP. Here is our small preview:
Ubisoft isn’t taking away the formula they have for the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions, because the slopes are huge. Gameplay on the PSP is focused on Player Progression as you beat through the challenges. You can choose from a variety of characters at the beginning, and as you gain experience you can use that to upgrade the attributes for your character. In addition to boosting attributes, you can purchase “stickers” and put them on your snowboard. Each snowboard can have a maximum of 3 stickers on it. But these Stickers aren’t just for decorations, essentially these stickers will add permanent power-ups to your snowboard. There is a on the right side that is the “power up meter”, once its completely full you press the Select button on your PSP and it will activate. You can boost this meter up by competely insane tricks.
I was dissapointed that your snowboarder isn’t uniquely made, meaning you cant make your character for your career. There are just selections of different characters. Shaun White’s Snowboarding for the PSP has some sharp and bold colors, that won’t make you miss anything on these downhill ride. Ubisoft has announced that there will be a multiplayer function, but so far all you can do is trade stickers to other PSP players.
This will be the first Extreme Snowboarding game since SSX. SSX was a favorite for me, and it was insanely fun. I still once in a while go back to my PS2 to play it. Shawn White’s Snowboarding releases on November 16th. Here are 3 gameplay videos of Shaun White’s Snowboarding for the PSP.
